Qualifications​
  • Fern has experience and training using modalities such as IFS and parts work, attachment theory, CBT, DBT skills, solution focused, and motivational interviewing. She comes from a social work background and values a person-centered approach to counseling.

  • Masters of Social Work with an emphasis in individual practice from the University of Georgia 
  • Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of Georgia

I recognize that reaching out for help takes an enormous amount of courage. For that reason, I believe that all clients should be given an empathetic ear and treated with respect and sensitivity to ensure clients feel comfortable in the therapy process. I primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy, tailoring my approach to meet the individual needs of the client. My desire as a therapist is to walk with my clients through the therapeutic journey, helping clients discover hidden potential, find healing to known and unknown wounds, and set new goals for a more satisfying life. Therapy is an adventure of discovery where clients can safely learn more about themselves.

After completing my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Liberty University, I joined the front lines of ministry, working as a counselor and director of a Christ-centered, long-term, inpatient, drug, and alcohol recovery program for the last eight years. My work in the field of addictions has given me valuable experience counseling individuals with a wide range of concerns, including emotional and physical trauma, depression, anxiety, and marital and family conflict.
I am a proud Army veteran having served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I am an ordained minister. I have been married for 31 years and have three children and one grandson.
