Jennifer Wood, M.A., APC, NCC
Hi, my name is Jennifer Wood. I would love the opportunity to get to know you. I absolutely love the counseling process and enjoy getting to know each of my clients. I would love to hear about your life journey, any challenges or struggles you may be experiencing and work with you to live your best life. I believe life is best lived with connections to other people. We all have times in our lives where we need a little help to get through something. I believe God works through and with us all to provide what we need when we need it.
My experience
I have experience working with couples who want to strengthen their marriage, individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, suicidality, life transitions, self-esteem issues, relational conflict, communication issues, family concerns, and emotional instability. I have experience working with people from college students to senior adults.
My education
I have a MA in Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, KY.
I have a BSN from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Ga.
I have a BBA in Marketing from the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 & 2 Certifications, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFR) Certified
What to expect from me
My counseling approach is client-centered. I provide a safe space to share that is nonjudgmental and accepting. I allow you to take an active role in the therapy process while utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and trauma focused techniques. I occasionally recommend “homework” assignments to work toward positive change. Above all else, I tailor each session to meet you where you are and work toward your personal goals.
