Grief Counseling
Grief counseling helps individuals cope with the loss of a loved one, or with a major life change such as divorce, relocation, etc. It facilitates the expression of thoughts and emotions pertaining to the loss, which include sadness, anxiety, anger, loneliness, guilt, relief, isolation, confusion or numbness. It is not uncommon for a person to withdraw from their friends and family and feel helpless, or feel angry and want to take action. Often people feel disorganized, tired, experience a change in appetite, have trouble concentrating, sleep poorly and have vivid dreams. Some may even laugh. Grief counseling also includes processing the challenges that follow a loss and coping with other changes in their lives. Grief is a normal part of life, and although it may appear differently in different cultures, we all experience losses and need to grieve those losses in safe and supportive environments.
