Melissa Shepherd, M.A., NCC

As a compassionate encourager from a young age, Melissa has always been drawn to listen, encourage, and assist those who have found themselves in hurting or struggling places. After hearing the stories and struggles of people's lives over the course of many years in retail business, the Lord redirected her path to the counseling field in order to help others better navigate through their life journeys.
Prior to becoming self-employed in 1995, Melissa completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Georgia State University. She is currently completing her last year for a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Specializations in Trauma Counseling as well as in Counseling and Spirituality at Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta.
She has a special interest in those who have experienced trauma or are dealing with losses of any kind, as well as those facing significant life transitions. She looks forward to hearing the story you have to tell and to seeing the Lord's divine purposes worked out in the midst of the joys and pains of each person's uniquely created life journey.
Melissa lives in Banks County, Georgia with her 17 year old dog, Red, and multiple rescue kitties ages 3-18. Any time there is an open book or laptop, there's likely to be a feline assistant close at hand! In between paper writing and school assignment deadlines, Melissa enjoys creating in her art/picture framing workshop, walking with her dog, and catching a masterpiece sunset whenever possible!
