Jon Hunt, MSW

Hi, my name is Jon Hunt. I believe in working collaboratively with clients, applying common-sense wisdom, research-based approaches, and deep spiritual truth to all of life. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship based on empathy and understanding and to create an environment where growth and healing can occur. It is a privilege to join others on the journey toward hope and stability.
My aim is to be biblically and clinically informed, but I am happy to assist clients of all spiritual backgrounds. I use principles from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and person-centered therapy. Most importantly, I want to know you and your story to help me understand how I can help. Ideally, the counseling process will leave you better able to cope with pain, process emotions, alter behaviors, and overcome the challenges of life. I see myself as one piece of your support system and will remain committed to your mental and emotional health during our time together.
I received a masters of social work from the University of Georgia in 2018, after also studying social work as an undergraduate. My experience includes internships at the Salvation Army and the Atlanta Mission, working with people experiencing homelessness and men recovering from addiction. Since then, I have also worked with children, refugees, and others in a variety of ministry settings. Along the way, I have enjoyed sitting down with people and walking through life with them, which is why I decided to move back into the field of counseling.
